Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended the 'Golden Jubilee Celebration of Department of Official Language' at Bharat Mandapam on Thursday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said at a program of the Department of Official Language in New Delhi on Thursday - there is no opposition to any language. One should not oppose any foreign language either. But the emphasis should be on speaking our language, giving it respect and thinking in our language.

Shah further said - I believe from my heart that Hindi cannot be against any Indian language. Hindi is a friend of all Indian languages. Hindi and all Indian languages together can take our campaign of self-pride to its destination.

Earlier on June 19, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said - People who speak English in this country will soon feel ashamed. The creation of such a society is not far away. No foreign language can be sufficient to understand our country, our culture, our history and our religion.

4 key points from Amit Shah's address...

  • Our languages will unite India: In the past few decades, language has been used as a means to divide India. They couldn't break it, but attempts were made. We will ensure that our languages become a powerful medium to unite India. The Department of Official Language will work for this.
  • We will develop Indian languages: I believe that under PM Modi's leadership, the foundation being laid will create a great India in 2047, and on the path to building a great India, we will develop our Indian languages. We will enrich them and increase their utility.
  • Greater use of Indian languages in government work: Indian languages should be used more and more in government work. Not just in the central government but also in state governments. For this, we will contact the states, try to convince and persuade them.
  • Medical-Engineering studies in local languages: All state governments should start medical and engineering education in local languages in their respective states. The central government will provide all possible help to state governments so that administrative work and higher education can be conducted in Indian languages.

'We will be at the top in the world by 2047': Shah

On June 19, Shah had said - PM Modi has laid the foundation of five pledges for Amrit Kaal. These five promises have become the resolution of 130 crore people. This is why we will be at the top by 2047 and our languages will play a major role in this journey.

These five pledges include achieving the goal of a developed India, getting rid of every sign of slavery, taking pride in our heritage, staying committed to unity and solidarity, and awakening a sense of duty in every citizen.
